How to Achieve a Polished Presence Online

Here’s the short and skinny version of an over-hyped, greatly exaggerated, over the top, artificial way to attempt to attract others to your offer.

Quit pitching. This is just a temporary sales structure that won’t last. You are going to be wobbling up and down and all over. Your aggressiveness will only make you appear uncaring. Trust that your customers want you to care about where they spend their money and why.

Dig back to old fashioned customer service to gain repeat and loyal customer base. That should be your goal. NOT just one sale to gain a few bucks because you won’t last long. It’s not about quota all around; it’s about the quality of service you provide to others… it’s about your untouched value.

So how do you achieve a polished presence online then, plus make a living at it? It’s not hard really. If you are genuine, stay that way. Don’t let your upline, sideline or anyone else convince you different. If you’re not genuine in what you do, then get out.

When you write online content don’t sell! You may wonder how you might make money if you don’t sell. Well you will eventually because it should be a process of qualification on both ends.

Think about this for one moment. Let’s say you’re a sales person for ABC Company. On the sales team there are lead generators working to set up appointments for you. You have to drive two hours one way, in crazy traffic, on an extremely hot day with no air conditioner to go meet with this manager to make a sale. You’ve trusted that your lead generator set up a good appointment. You get there and the manager has no idea what in the heck you’re selling. You quickly find out that there is no need for your service here. You can even plainly see it. How are you going to feel when you drive back two hours to your office? What kind of face are you going to be wearing when looking at your sales team of lead generators? What are you going to say to your boss that week when they bring you into the office to question why you didn’t even come close to meeting your sales quota? Ok, so hopefully you are getting my drift here.

So why would you want to put yourself in the same place? You are your own lead generator and appointment setter plus the sales person. Seems like you’d do a better job at it right?

Quality over quantity every time is what you should know. Here’s another way to look at this. If you’re sitting at your desk (home office) working your tail off to make a sale that day and you get some hyped up email about “buy this today because I said so” email. Are you going to get caught up in that from someone you don’t even know? Just because John says it’s an excellent product doesn’t mean this is going to work for you, and you know that. So why are you going out and trying the same old-same old on other people? Here’s what to focus on when you create your next online content, whether it be a press release, article, forum post or eBook.

  • What is the problem?
  • What free solution can you hand out at the moment that will establish that initial relationship?

Don’t look past giving out free information. I’m not talking about some eBook that gives out junk that is only promoting your product. I’m talking about a “solution” to someone’s immediate problem. That will make them think about you again once they come upon another road block. This is the first step of a few to build your online relationship without looking like a “taker.” You become a solution provider and one who others will hold at high regard, instead of some sleazy sales person. Give without expecting anything in return while you build your online relationships.
